NOTICE OF REGISTRATION DEADLINE
06 July 2010


This election is for Covington Exempted Village School District residents ONLY!

The Miami County Board of Elections, Old Courthouse, 215 West Main Street, Troy, OH 45373 will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday for the purpose of registering individuals to be eligible to vote in the 03 August 2010 Special Election.

Voter registration may also be completed during normal working hours at the following locations:

  • All libraries in Miami County
  • All High Schools & Vocational Schools
  • The Bureau of Motor Vehicles
  • All Municipal and some Township offices

Changes of name and/or address will be accepted at any voter registration site, and also may be made by mail or in person at the Miami County Board of Elections’ office through 16 July 2010 in order to be recorded in the proper Precinct Register. Compliance by this date will eliminate your requirement to vote a Provisional ballot.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR REGISTRATION

  1. Native or naturalized citizen of the United States
  1. A resident of Ohio 30 days prior to the election and a resident of Miami County.
  1. 18 years of age
  1. You are not incarcerated for a felony conviction under the laws of Ohio or the United States.
  1. You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court

Persons previously registered who voted in a 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 or 2009 Election in Miami County DO NOT NEED TO RE-REGISTER.

Those unable to travel to the Board of Elections or any other registration site may request registration forms by mail. Call 937-440-3900 or write the Board of Elections.

Registration forms mailed to a County Board of Elections or the Secretary of State’s office must be postmarked 30 days before an election in order to be valid for that election.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION


Notice is hereby given that in pursuance of a resolution passed by the Board of Education of the Covington Exempted Village School District of Miami County, Ohio, on April 14 2010, there will be submitted to the qualified electors of the said school district at the Special Election to be held at the regular places therein on the 3rd day of August 2010 the question of levying a tax for the benefit of the said school district for the purpose of:

$12,561,794.00 BOND ISSUE TO PAY THE LOCAL SHARE OF COSTS UNDER
THE STATE OF OHIO CLASSROOM FACILITIES ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Said tax being an: ADDITIONAL

at a rate of not exceeding 7 mills for each one dollar of tax valuation, which amounts to $0.70 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 38 years, commencing in 2010, first due in 2011.

For the purpose of:

PERMANENT IMPROVEMENTS

Said tax being an:  ADDITIONAL

at a rate not exceeding 2.5 mills for each one dollar of tax valuation, which amounts to $0.25 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for a continuing period of time, commencing in 2010, first due in 2011.

The polls for said election will be open from at 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. of said day.
